Computer advice/Processors,Which One?

What are the best processors to buy other than the quad core series?

Also been looking on ebay at the core2duo range computers, What do you think of these computers.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Intel-Core2DUO-E6600-2GB-250GB-nVidia-7300-512MB-Gfx_W0QQitemZ110115550886QQihZ001QQcategoryZ179QQcmdZViewItem

Do they perform well?

I know they look really cheap an tacky but what about the inside of it as i am sure i would be able to upgrade the case.

Only have a budget of about 拢400 so i am really looking for the best possible i can get.

Any help/guidance/advice

Hugely appreciated

Thank You!!!!Computer advice/Processors,Which One?
Getting something on ebay WILL be a ripoff PERIOD. Companies that sell on ebay like that overcharge even more money for suckers. I strongly suggest looking around first.

As for being on a budget, I would suggest the AMD cpus (more bang for the buck).

As it will be the video card NOT the cpu for 3d gaming that is needed. And if just doing simple task like internet, word processing, etc, you don't even need a dual cpu or great video card.

Use this guide:

pentium more stable
the E6600 is great for playing all the latest games, plus it has a lot more that you would need like dvd writer and 2gb of ram, the graphics card isnt exactly top of the range and the ram is the slower version of ddr2, you really want some 800mhz ddr2 but that motherboard dosent support it.

if your after a gaming pc then its not too bad, but i would definately opt for a better graphics card.

if your not interested in playing games then you dont need a lot of the features of this pc and you will be paying out for what you wont use, instead go for a pentium 4 or athlon 64 based pc.

and if you want a quad core pc.... its going to cost you about 拢600 just for the processor alone.

i would say about 拢350 for that pc in the link is a good price.
you can buy without any problem an intel core 2 duo E6600 and you'll get the best quality/money processor on the market

I have one of this CPU and I am very thankfull of it, with 2x1Gb Corsair memory and Asus P5W DH Deluxe motherboard and 74Gb WD Raptor, 2x 250Gb WD hard disk, finally video is an Asus E7600GT
