Ok I have an AOpen computer with 80GB of space. The RAM is rubbsih with only 478MB. The computer is 18 months old. I am going to send the computer in for some serious upgrades. I am going to have it wiped and then have Windows XP Media Cneter loaded onto it. I am then going to remove the 478MB RAM chip and have a brand new one around 1GB put in. I am going to update my proccessor to something alot more up to date so that my computer's MHz/ GHz will automatically increase so my computer can run faster. I am going to update all of the software for my computer's current drivers and I am also going to have the lastest video card installed. I am not going to buy a new computer so please don't sugest that...but have I covered everything upgrade wise?Need Computer Advice Urgently!?
No not really. Although you say you do not wish to buy a new computer you may find it cheaper in the long run and I will explain why. First of all to have a good unit today PC's have a duel core processor. with that you need a new mother board, you will need a new power pack to power it as duel core processors have very precise power needs. your RAM will need to be DDR2, your Internet care (Ethernet card will need to be of the FAST type. your USB ports again need to be of type 2, the HD need to be of the faster type, ie fast access HD (FAHD) and also your CD or DVD rom will again need to be of the fast access / write type.Buy the time you have bought all these items you may just as well have yourself a new PC that has it all Incorporated with all thew software already loaded and it's all configured for you. But at the end of the day it's up to you.
By the way I build them all day long so I know exactly what I am talking about. And not only that a shop may give you a discount. so save your $ dollars it's the wisest thing to do.

You might need a new motherboard to be able to put in a newer and faster processor, not to mention taking advantage of faster memory.
You may have to look at the power supply, as the newer faster stuff will consume more power.
your old motherboard might not be up to the job, so it might be worth thinking about getting a mobo upgrade, or combining a cpu motherboard package (they also come with a suitable heatsink and cpu fan).
The only upgrade(if you could call it that) i can think of is a cooling system
If you are buffing to that extent, You should look into a water Cooling System
Well, I suggest you upgrade your mother-board they can range from $50 to 400 depending on what your looking for, but if you purchase a new processor, be sure that it will match your current/new mother boards slot, and that the bus speed is equal to your motherboards so you get the best use out of it.
