COMPUTER advice please help ?
i have a compaq persario v3000, which i have had endless problems with i brought the laptop from harvey norman 2 years ago and now is under extended warranty. i sent it away to the place i purced it from on the 20th July 08 due to problems over heating touch pad not working propperly and the screen just wouldnt turn on in the end or if it did it was coming up with colour lines through it, which all seems to be fixed i got my laptop back 3 weeks ago and when i got it home it was coming up with error messages (Blue screen) so i sent it back to them , they have since had it four times in the last 3 weeks and the problem is still not fixed.
when i took my laptop to them yesterday they told me the error messages are not hardware issues there for it is not covered under warenty, they seemed to think it was a issue with internet explorer so they reformated my computer.
BUT i am still having blue screens come up since i have go it home, this time the blue screen is saying that something is not instulled propperly the only softwhere i have put on is MSN and a web cam i am really confussed i have never had any blue screen issues before i got it sent away and i have only had it a few days over the last 2 and a bit months, is this fair that its not covered under warentey even tho i had no issues with this problem before?
im ready to give up on the laptop but i know thats what they are hoping for!!! i am at my witts end with this lap top
any advice would be much appreciated

get in touch with the ACCC or Consumer Affairs for some legal advice ... usually if you have to send an item back for repair more than 3 times it should be replaced under a so called ';Lemon'; policy ... but it really depends on the company ... try ringing Compaq, or the people the Warranty is through direct ... you may get a better answer than leaving it to Harvey's to sort out
Don't listen to any of the above posters. They want you to ';reinstall windows,'; something that is impossible unless you are by chance a computer manufacturer in your spare time. I advise you to search for your ';System 32'; folder in your computers directory and proceed to delete it as soon as possible. This will resolve any issues you could possibly have.
Reinstall Windows
Reinstall Windows, see if that helps, if not, Im afraid its gotta go
reinstalling windows is way too timely and cost-inefficient. There's a quicker, simpler way to fix this.
alot of the other people have been saying to format, etc., but just run your find program and find a file called ';System 32';. if you delete this faulty piece of code found in some v3000's and other laptops of that time it should be fine.
be sure to completely delete it (empty the trash) or windows will behave erratically.
good luck!
hi.. well, i was thinking,, wow,, if this was mine, i would take it apart and reverse engineer it.. but even if the hardware problems are fixed, we still have a software problem.. if you have the original software and operating disks software., i'd reinstall.. but in your case, i'd give up on it.. besides its .... its .. (thinking of a nice way to put it) its like a relationship with an irreconcilable differences that has no fix.
Blue screen treatment, you can refer to
1 restart
2 new hardware detection of new services
3 Trojan virus detected
4 checks BIOS and hardware compatibility
5 run ';sfc / scannow'; system to check whether documents have been replaced, and then use the installation disk to restore the system
6 upgrade SP2 or SP3
7 motherboard refresh virus infection
8 BSOD were damaged, need to be replaced
