Advanced computer advice help!!?

i just got this motherboard on Ebay (Soyo SY-K8USA Socket 754 Motherboard) i kinda got in byu accident. long story anyways i was wondering first of all if i got shafdted or not i paid $50.00 including shipping and additional grapincs cards, cables and software? #2 What cpu do i need to make this thing work and is it going to be worth the effort?? thanks for any help you vcan offer!!1

To answer your first question, if you paid $50 for the mobo and graphics card including the shipping and handling you did not get shafted. That sounds to me like you came out okay.





To answer your second question, the mobo you have only supports AMD Athlon CPUs. Make sure you do not get anything different, because nothing else will be compatible with this board.





Whether or not it is going to be worth the effort all depends on what you are wanting to do with it. The board obviously does not support a dual or quad processor, and it only supports AGP 8x (as opposed to PCI-express). So if you are wanting to use this for gaming, I would say you will have a tough time with higher end and newer games. If you are just wanting this to surf around on the net, I would say you could easily make this work and be affordable. If you are deciding to play some newer higher end games I would definitely think about investing money in a higher end board that supports at least a dual core processor, a couple gigs of RAM, and PCI-express GPU. If you aren't gaming, you obviously will not need all of that.Advanced computer advice help!!?
You need a processor that works with a Socket 754.





If it works it probably was worth it, if it doesn't work they you got shafted.
you didn't get shafted if you only paid 50 for all that, but it's an older board. it will run an AMD athlon 64 or turion processor.
