Im a programmer & want out of the computer business. Advice?

I'm a programmer who is frustrated with crazy stress and want to find another occupation which pays OK (I'm not in it for big $) and is less stress. I know teaching is one option but I want to find out if other people have bailed from the programming/computer field and what they've done instead. You don't necessarily have to leave the field. If your objective is to lower stress then go to a more structured company, one where project management is paid the right attention and where programmers and analysts are not overworked.





Almost every occupation can be made stressing. It depends on who's doing the job.





Now, to be honest with you, if I have to start over again I'd probably study music or culinary arts and end up being a chef or a musician.... too late now... I cook for my wife and kids only but I know I would have made a great chef. Now I am stuck in the IT industry making a good salary and the opportunity cost is just too big to afford.





If you are young and only need to support yourself, go for your dream. Is good that big $ is not a big factor.
