I would suggest you look at Dells. You get the best price. If you don't need to for anything other then websurfing and word processing, go with something lower then a dual core. AMD processors are also a good way to go. They are normally cheaper and work just as well. Since you are a college student, you qualify for Dell's Unleashed Discounts. You can get good discounts this way. I think there is a $200 coupon right now. get a dell intel laptop, it's pretty good quality, the 15.4 inch screens come for $799 and the 14.1 inches are $699 just go on their website, they have a special offer going on for this week i think, plus you can choose a variety colors.
Goto your nearst Best Buy or Circuit City never buy a computer online. Always buy from the store this way you can take the laptop back should you have any problems with it.

if i were you, i would get Hp laptop for only $659, with 1 gig memory and 80 gig hardrive and its also windows vista...its good enough for you to use for college.
check newegg.com for some of the best deals. Also, if you are daring, try bensbargains for special deals from a lot of companies you have never heard of. Get an AMD processor, it's cheaper and more bang for the buck.
