Computer advice please?

Would a Transcend 1GB DDR2-667 PC2-5400 240 pins help speed up my PC?

And would there be an extra space to slot it into?Computer advice please?
yes Adding RAM is the cheapest and easiest way to speed up any computer

just make sure it's compatible with your computerComputer advice please?
It wouldn't be possible to tell without knowing what kind of computer you had.

You will find that a memory upgrade will speed up your PC because when your PC starts to run out of memory, it begins to use something called the pagefile. The pagefile is a file on the hard drive which is used when memory is low.

Because the pagefile takes so much longer to read and write to that it would to read and write to memory, the net effect is that your computer gets slowed down.

The addition of more memory will cause the pagefile to be used less and the memory to be used more.

The best tool I have found if you are looking to upgrade memory is the Crucial System Scanner Tool.

http://www.crucial.com

Click on the scan my system link and then download the ActiveX control - don't worry - it is safe and free of spyware.

The control will scan your system to see how many slots are free and then advise you what memory you need and how much it costs.

The good thing is that you don't necessarily need to buy your memory from Crucial, just write down the type you need and buy it elsewhere - although I have found that Crucial are quite competive.

This is an easy way to make sure that you get the right kind and the right amount of memory for your PC or laptop.

I hope I've answered your question. Please rate my answer if you found it useful.
it all depends on your pc body open it up and check if there is two more spots next to the ram. and it also depends on your operating system if your running windows vista ultimate or a 64bit operating system it will alway help getting extra ram because it requires a lot to run them trust me on this one. see my pc has eight ram slots i could fit in it up to 8gb of ram but i only need 4gb but soon i will have it complete
what kind of pc do you have? and the general recommendation is to use the exact same ram if possible
if it is the right spec/ right type then yes

if you have 2 Gb, and trying to go for more - forget it - 2 Gb is the sweet spot for 32-bit OS - 64-bit and you can go a little higher but there isnt much of a diff. after 2 Gb

You really need to list your specs, CPU, RAM, model # ?
