i need a new computer. my current computer is on its last leg. with my new computer i need to run things like photoshop, illistrator, corawl draw, and bigger applications, things like that. im going to run a one person business form my home, so that will be my creation station as well as my personal computer for games like the sims 3 and pictures and misic. im not sure what specs i need for everything like that. i am just starting my busines so i dont have a lot of money. im thinking i need AT LEAST 2gb of ram, 250gb or hard drive, amd procceser. what else do i need? im thinking about buying a lenvo because ive heard bad things about dell and i have an hp and i hate it. apple is way to expensive. i have never bought a new computer and your help woiuld be apperciated, any serious info you can give me would be great, thanks.What specs do i need for a new computer? advice plz?

Could you build one? It is not hard, and you get what you want. I do rebuilds and for less than NZ$300.00 I can do a 2.4 gig CPU 2gig DDR6400 new motherboard, power supply and SATA DVD RW.
AMD CPUs handle pictures very well and 2.4-2.7 gig versions are cheap,they have good L2 cache512-1024k
Asus Motherboards are stable and reliable,with good features.
Stay away from apples they are more expensive and you lose your PC options.
You could consider this unit. $499 is not too bad. Dual core AMD 4400+ processor 2GB RAM. 250GB HDD. Windows XP Pro downgrade, if you don't like Vista Business.

if u can spend about 3000 dollars then get a mac pro it will let u use vista and mac at same time if u run boot camp it has 8 processers and that newest market comps only have 4 and can be upgraded to 32 gigs of ram so id get that but if u want cheaper go to best bu and put desktops then put buisness

Finding a computer that suits your needs isn't hard at all. You say you want to run games and photo editing applications? That pretty much sums it all up to a high end computer. I would go with a computer that has specs that have equal or greater value:
- 4GB of Ram for quick loading
- 500gb of Hard drive space for your pictures, music, and games
- Nvidia Geforce 8600 or greater video card for your gaming and editing demands
- Intel Core 2 Duo 2.3 or greater
You can find a computer like that for roughly 800, maybe 900 dollars at http://dell.com/outlet they sell refurbished computers, but they restore them to practically brand new at a price you can only beat if you build your own computer.
Ok well i would recomend SOLIDLY a sony laptop. Check out there website and they have a laptop with bluray M8400 a 3450 graphics card witch will play your games a decently large screen and 4gigs of ram to boot. It will cost you around 1300$ However if you want you can buy a desktop with better inards for a lower cost if you can sacrafice mobility. You can get a computer custom made localy with a E8400 a 9800gt a 22inch monitor and 4 gigs of DDR2 ram for less than 1000$ if you really need a preformance machine on a budget you need to go custom if you can Dell XPS or Inspiron 530 series is good.
P.S dell has really pulled there socks up.
Depends on your operating system. Either way, Vista or XP, I recommend 2gb to 4gb of RAM, a dual-core processor with cores of 2.4ghz or higher, and 250gb+ in hard disk space. If you want to game The Sims 3, I recommend a graphics card in the 9800 series from nVidia or 3800 or 4800 series from ATI.
I built a computer of this caliber recently for under $700. You can buy whole, pre-made ones from Dell, etc. for about $1200 with these specs, but all the work is done for you.
