Sorry to be dumb *** computer advice please?

this might sound real lame so i apologies now!!

OK when i click on the windows icon, and in the start search box i type a certain name of a program i have downloaded and nothing is found with that name does that mean that the program has been deleted from my computer and all the files associated with it ??

Also i would like to know if when you download a movie off a file sharing site or illegal site does that download go into a file with the websites name on it IE: lime wire meaning that everything downloaded from that website is all gathered in a file called lime wire?? or do they go off into other places?? I hope that makes sense am a numpty when it comes to computers thanks guysSorry to be dumb *** computer advice please?
If search does not find it, it is possible that it is not indexed and therefore the computer doesn't know where the file is right off hand. That's why in order to be proficient at computers, you must know where you are saving things. This is why folders, and folder names are useful tools. Make a folder called ';Downloads'; and anything you download, put in that folder. Makes sense, right?

As for the second question, things that are downloaded, say just from websites are usually put in a temporary folder that is hidden from users - only windows knows where it's at. This is because it's temporary and will be deleted later. If you need to keep track of something, put it in your ';Downloads'; folder.

Same thing with Limewire. Limewire has a directory that it knows as its ';Save Directory';. This is the folder somewhere on your computer where it dumps all the things downloaded. You can change this folder in the Edit %26gt; Preferences (or Options) menu.

...And no, downloaded files don't have the URL associated with the filename.
