a buddy of mine wants to take his computer in for service, but he is concerned cause he looks at a lot of porn stuff ( legal i assume but he is in a very religious, and nosy, community and it would be embarrassing ) i told him once you use ccleaner secure delete ( even just the 3 passes ) it would be damn near impossible for anyone to retrace his browsing steps, true?
i am pretty knowledgeable on computers and while nothing is impossible with today's technology it is very unlikely a pc repair shop would be able to undo what ccleaner destroyed, am i right or what?
can i tell him to rest easy?Did i give good COMPUTER ADVICE?
No !! C Cleaner will not permanently clean stored data. Any recovery programs will be able to recover ur friends data.
Until the stored region is overwritten, the old data can be retrieved, in fact that's how you can recover lost data .
U need to reformat the hard drive or use digital shredding software if you want to completely eliminate all traces of data. U can use ERASE s/w for this. Google it.Its a free s/w.
But to delete a browsing history, ccleaner will do it..!!!Did i give good COMPUTER ADVICE?
yes you are right Ccleaner delete it ,but by using some softwares you can recover deleted files
1. No the repair shop guy can't find out
2. No one is so interested to find out either
3. And Yeah you are RIGHT
It shoudl be fine... but the PC repair store shouldn't be searching someone registry for browsing histories!!
You might to give a call to bbc radio 2
Do your really expect a computer repairman to look for porno on a computer when it has been deteted with a program like CCleaner. ? Yes he would have the knowledge to do so, but why should he do that, It is not that easy to do. He has better things to do then looking for porn on a computer.. Repairing cumputers for example.
The only people who could use programs to undo what CCleaner did, is the police and then only when they suspect childs porn on a certain computer.
I promise, you can safely take the computer for a service and your buddy does not have to be afraid that the whole community will discover his likings for watching porn.
